The 2020 Photo Competition
Due to the continuing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening reception for the SAC's & Stonehenge Gallery photo competition has been cancelled.
However, we can still celebrate the wonderful work on display at Stonehenge Gallery. The exhibit opens Friday, July 10 and runs through Friday, July 31. Please consider a visit to the gallery during office hours, Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery is located at 401 Cloverdale Road, Montgomery, Alabama.
Award winners will be announced soon! A video slide show featuring the 50 photos from the show will be made available online! Another video slide show will feature one image from each photographer who submitted to the exhibit! More information to follow soon.
Open Call to Photographers — Juried Competition/Exhibit
This exhibit is presented by the Society of Arts & Crafts (SAC’s), a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization committed to the advancement of art education and art appreciation. The month-long event will be exhibited at Stonehenge Gallery, one of Montgomery, Alabama's premier art galleries/art frame shops. Submission is open to all photographers (professional and amateur), working in all forms of photography. Four categories are offered.
1. Color
2. Black and white
3. Alternative process
4. Manipulation (digital and film)
The cost to enter is $25. You may enter up to three images for that fee. There is no theme for this exhibit. There is no time limit for when you produced your work. Let's elevate photography as an art form. Show us your best!
Images previously shown at any Stonehenge Gallery exhibit are not eligible for this competition and should not be submitted to this call.
Awards: Best in show — $1,000
Best in category — $500 (four awards)
The exhibit runs July 11-31, 2020, with an opening reception at Stonehenge Gallery on Saturday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m.
Matting and framing are available from Stonehenge Gallery’s frame shop. Contact them directly via the information/website link listed under the Stonehenge Gallery drop down menu item. (Note: There is an earlier deadline for shipping images to be framed by Stonehenge. See the "Calendar" tab at the top of this home page for date details.)
The juror for this exhibit is Angie Dodson, director of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. See the "Meet the Juror" page for more information on our judge.
